Hemp Study: Promising Results from Cornell Vet School

The results are in!

Many people don’t know this, but studies on cannabis have been going on for many years.   Mostly, on humans though.

The good news is most recently Cornell Vet School collaborated with ElleVet Sciences on the use of cannabinoids and animals.  This study included ElleVet’s Mobility soft chew. And here is the snippet of this study.

Drum roll…

The Hemp Study

The purpose of this study was based on growing evidence that hemp can be or is an effective treatment for animals.  ElleVet Sciences wanted evidence backed by science to know if the Mobility product really works.

The clinical study was a double-blind placebo with dogs that have multi-joint pain. According to the press release, over 80% of the dogs who were given ElleVet’s hemp oil blend soft chew saw significant improvement in pain levels and quality of life.   The study determined that ElleVet’s hemp oil blend is “efficacious for pain in dogs with multi-joint pain, chronic joint pain and geriatric pain and soreness; with dramatic beneficial effects in our more geriatric patients”.  Vets who participated in this study called it a “game-changer”.

The study led by Dr. Joe Wakshlag of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine wanted to also know the dosing and efficacy so they could stand behind the product based on science.

Dosing for this study was at 2mg/kg, but follow up at 1 mg/kg after completion of the study suggested that 1 mg/kg was also effective. Dr. Wakshlag is currently suggesting the following dosing recommendation:   1 mg/kb 2x daily for two weeks, if effective and then ½ mg/kg 2x daily thereafter. If the initial 1 mg/kg does not work well, then increasing the dose to 2 mg/kg would be indicated. {source: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2336/2145/files/Ellevet-Cornell-Letter.pdf?12037834858464781434}

What does Dr. Wakshlag dosing mean?

Luckily, when buying from ElleVet Sciences, you’ll receive dosing guide as it pertains to your dogs’ weight.  You will not have to guess or do any calculations.  Thank goodness for that!

Here is the product of this study.

Results are good. I mean really good!

The dog families who participated in this study have reported –

“MY DOG HASN’T GONE UP THE STAIRS IN FOUR YEARS”

“MY DOG IS ENGAGED WITH THE FAMILY AND IS PLAYING AGAIN”

I think it is comforting to know when you give your dog a product containing hemp it is based on science.  Thanks to ElleVet Sciences and Dr. Wakshlag of Cornell University Veterinary Medicine, for this study, and that it is tested by vets and endorsed by vets.   WHOO HOO!

The partnership does not stop here, together they are studying how hemp oil affects cats using ElleVet Feline.
